Peripheral Vascular Test  (ABI)    



Noninvasive peripheral arterial examination is used to establish the level and degree of arterial narrowing, occlusion or obstruction (ABI). Peripheral Vascular Test detects PVD, stenosis, vasospasm, etc.


Noninvasive venous outflow and capacitance examination is used to identify venous insufficiency possibly due to DVT.


PVT gives you useful information about the adequacy of the blood circulation in your legs.

Risk Factors:

About half of people with peripheral vascular disease do not have symptoms. Of those who do, another half do not tell their health care providers.


How is the PVT done?

It is a safe and painless test. You'll lie on your back. Blood pressure cuffs will be placed on your arms and legs. Cuffs will inflate and recordings will be taken. The test will take about 20 minutes. You may return to your normal activities after the test.


Preparations:

No special preparations are needed. Wear comfortable clothes. You will be asked to remove your shoes and take off you socks.


Transcranial Doppler Exam

TCD exam helps in diagnosis of a wide range of conditions affecting arterial blood flow to the brain and within the brain and whether such arteries are occluded or stenosed. It is a noninvasive evaluation of intracranial arterial hemodynamics. It has value for prediction of stroke.
